CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Delegate Josh Holstein, R-Boone, recently announced a nearly $10,000 grant for the Scott High School Athletics Department.
Holstein, who was first elected to the Legislature in 2020, was able to secure the $9,567 grant through the Local Economic Development Assistance program. The Local Economic Development Assistance program is funded through legislative appropriation and set aside to assist communities throughout West Virginia.
“It is my distinct honor and privilege to have requested and secured this funding for Scott High School student athletes, which will be of great benefit to the entire Skyhawk community. Our children deserve all they can get and I look forward to pursuing more opportunities in the future,” Holstein said.
Scott High School Football Coach Jeremy Dolin said the grant will allow the Athletics Department to pay the balance owed on new uniforms for his team.
“This also gives us a lot of flexibility when it comes to adding other important training equipment and playing equipment needed for our student athletes who participate in the Scott Skyhawks Football Program,” he said. “Coming off a season in which our program was hurt so greatly by the COVID restrictions, this grant puts our program in a much better position moving forward.”
