CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Delegate Christopher Toney, R-Raleigh, and Delegate Tony Paynter, R-Wyoming, recently announced grant funding for Baileysville Elementary and Middle School.
The funds will be utilized to purchase awnings and playground equipment for the schools.
Toney and Paynter were able to secure the $6,000 grant through the Local Economic Development Assistance program, which is funded through legislative appropriation and reserved to assist West Virginia communities.
“This will be a wonderful upgrade for Baileysville playground and help keep staff and students out of the elements when coming to school,” Toney said. “Our children deserve all we can give them, and I will always pursue every opportunity I have to help our region.”
“We know the community wants to support our local school in every way and adding an awning will be a much-needed improvement,” Paynter said. “We are honored to have the privilege to request and secure this extra funding.”
Toney, who serves as Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs and Homeland Security, was first elected to the Legislature in 2018. Delegate Paynter, Vice Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee, was first elected to the Legislature in 2016. The delegates are pictured with Superintendent Deirdre Cline, Principal Christie Dameron, and School Counselor Molly Sigmon of Baileysville Elementary and Middle in Brenton.
