BEAVER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Raleigh County law enforcement was involved in a shooting incident on Wednesday after responding to a situation in which a man was brandishing a construction crew.
The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office reports that, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the intersection of Violet Lane and Ritter Drive (Rt. 19) in the Beaver following reports of a male with a weapon.
Once law enforcement arrived at the scene, the male – identified as 39-year-old Ricky Lee Campbell of Beaver – aimed his weapon at a Raleigh County Deputy, at which point the Deputy fired on the individual.
Campbell was reportedly left uninjured as a result of the exchange and was taken into custody shortly thereafter. He now faces charges of Wanton Endangerment and Felon in Possession of a firearm based on the brandishing incident.
Authorities are currently transporting the suspect to Southern Regional Jail pending a $100,000 bond.
The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and members of the West Virginia State Police are continuing an investigation into the incident.
