MINERAL WELLS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wood County house fire tragically claimed the life of one resident on Friday.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, May 31, 2024, a structure fire was reported at 402 Dickens Drive in the Mineral Wells area of Wood County.
Two individuals residing in the neighborhood reportedly responded to the scene upon seeing smoke. The two attempted to enter the residence to rescue the disabled occupant but could not bypass the intense flames. These individuals were later transported from the scene to receive evaluation due to exposure to smoke.
Smoke and heat also prevented Sheriff Lt. Matt Hupp and Sgt, J.S. Kidder when they arrived at the scene.
Christine Corena Miracle – 63 years old of Mineral Wells – a resident of the home, is believed to have been discovered deceased inside the home once the flames were extinguished.
The house fire saw response from multiple entities including Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department, Eastwood Volunteer Fire Department, Lubeck Volunteer Fire Department, CCMC, St. Joe Ambulance, Wood County Fire Investigation Team, WV State Fire Mashal Office, Wood County Coroner’s Office, and American Red Cross.
