BEAVER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A dog was safely rescued from a vehicle following a rollover crash in Raleigh County on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026.
According to the Beaver Volunteer Fire Department, crews were dispatched to the crash on Stanaford Road near Union Hall Road.
When firefighters arrived, the driver had already been assisted from the vehicle by members of the West Virginia State Police. However, a dog named Goose remained inside the vehicle and refused to come out for troopers.
Beaver VFD Assistant Chief Redden was able to calm Goose and safely help him out of the vehicle. Fire officials said the dog appeared to be uninjured.
Once outside, Goose quickly warmed up to those at the scene, with firefighters describing him as “all tail wags and smiles.”
West Virginia State Police contacted Raleigh County Animal Control. While waiting for an animal control officer to arrive, emergency personnel were able to locate Goose’s owner with assistance from Alexis with the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office Records Division.
Officer Deck with Raleigh County Animal Control then transported Goose back home.
The vehicle was removed from the scene by Laxton’s Towing, and the roadway was reopened.
Beaver VFD jokingly said Goose gave everyone involved a five-star rating.
