SCOTT DEPOT, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A domestic disturbance call on May 17, 2025, led to the arrest of a Scott Depot man accused of choking his mother during a family dispute.
At approximately 2:40 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a home in Putnam County after a woman reported that her son had assaulted her and fled to a neighboring residence.
When officers arrived, they found the victim with visible redness and irritation around her neck, as well as a small cut on her wrist. The victim told deputies that her son, Dale Kelton Hatcher, who lives next door, became physically aggressive during an argument that started when she attempted to discipline his child.
According to Gragg, the confrontation escalated when Hatcher grabbed her by the neck, pushed her against the garage wall, and squeezed. The situation was broken up by the husband, who intervened and separated the two. Hatcher then returned to his home.
Officers documented the injuries and charged Dale Kelton Hatcher with domestic battery. The case is now pending in Putnam County court.
