IVYDALE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Authorities are investigating a tragic double homicide that took place in Ivydale, West Virginia, on Thursday, April 3, 2025. State Trooper First Class (TFC) R.E. Wiseman was alerted after concerned family members reported being unable to contact Brenda Lee Davis. Upon arrival at the residence, law enforcement discovered the bodies of two victims, both deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
The victims have been identified as 54-year-old Brenda Lee Davis of Ivydale and 38-year-old Richard Lee Bishop of Maysel, WV.
Following an investigation, authorities identified Michael Wayne Adkins, a 58-year-old male from Duck, WV, as the primary suspect. Adkins, who had a relationship with Brenda Davis, was subsequently charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He has been taken into custody and is currently incarcerated at Central Regional Jail as he awaits arraignment in Clay County.
