MARSHALL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and West Virginia State Police are investigating a double homicide and an officer-involved shooting that left three people dead early Thursday morning.
According to Marshall County Sheriff Mike Dougherty, Marshall County 911 received a call from a residence on Middle Grave Creek Road at approximately 1:40 a.m. No one was speaking on the line, prompting deputies to respond to the residence to investigate.
When deputies arrived, authorities say a male suspect fired a pistol at them. A deputy returned fire, fatally striking the suspect.
Deputies then entered the residence, where they discovered two additional people deceased.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and West Virginia State Police are investigating the double homicide and officer-involved shooting.
Authorities have not released the identities of the suspect or the two people found dead inside the residence.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
