FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS)— A West Virginia State Trooper arrested a driver Wednesday afternoon after a high-speed pursuit that stretched from Interstate 77 onto U.S. 19 and reached speeds of 90 mph, according to a criminal complaint.
The incident began around 4:29 p.m. on February 12, 2025, when a trooper spotted a blue Dodge pickup with West Virginia registration 66W-987 traveling north on I-77 near mile marker 46. The trooper paced the truck at approximately 90 mph in a 70-mph zone and initiated a traffic stop using lights and siren.
Instead of stopping, the driver reportedly exited onto U.S. 19 at mile marker 48 and continued north, speeding through a toll booth at more than 80 mph. The trooper notified WVSP Parkway Dispatch as the vehicle continued through the Mount Hope area, refusing to yield.
The pursuit came to an end when the truck pulled off onto the right shoulder of U.S. 19. The trooper issued repeated verbal commands for the driver to exit the vehicle. The driver initially refused but eventually complied.
When instructed to place his hands behind his back, the accused again refused several times before finally complying. He was then taken into custody without further incident.
