BUCKHANNON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An impaired driver operating a pickup truck was taken into custody this week after reportedly running a pickup truck into the ditches and dragging electrical wire.
According to the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office, in the late morning hours of Wednesday, December 11, 2024, the department was notified by the Upshur Communications Center or reports regarding a suspected intoxicated individual operating a motor vehicle in the area.
The driver in question was said to have been operating a white pickup truck which was being driven into ditches and was reportedly dragging electrical wire along the roadway.
Responding to the developing situation, Deputies with the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office were able to successfully locate the white pickup at the Kanawha Street area of Buckhannon.
A traffic stop was conducted and the individual operating the motor vehicle was discovered by law enforcement to have indeed been under the influence while operating the vehicle. Furthermore, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage could reportedly be detected emanating from inside the vehicle by responding officers.
The driver of the vehicle – identified as 59-year-old Glen Sines of Buckhannon, WV – was arrested on the scene for Second Offense DUI.
Due to the state of impairment of the driver, authorities assisted the defendant to and from police transport vehicles and transported him to Tygart Valley Regional Jail to await arraignment.
