CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Dunbar man has been convicted of charges in relation to an investigation regarding multiple residential burglary incidents.
Kanawha County court documents state that, in June of 2022, 28-year-old Devin Craig Thaxton of Dunbar, West Virginia perpetrated two burglaries in the Cross Lanes area of Kanawha County.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department initiated an investigation into these incidents and determined that Thaxton did indeed unlawfully enter two residences and steal multiple items during each instance.
Thaxton was convicted on two counts of burglary in late September by way of a “guilty” plea. The Dunbar resident is expected to be sentenced next week on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. He faces a maximum penalty of imprisonment in a state correctional facility for no less than two years and no more than thirty years.
The case was prosecuted before the Honorable Jennifer Bailey, Kanawha County Circuit Judge, by Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, Monica Shwartz. The Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney’s office has commended the work of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department in the department’s investigation of the residential burglary case.
