SUMMERSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Early this morning Station 2 was alerted to a fire at the WV Tire Disposal just outside Summersville.
Engine 21 responded along with Tanker 22. Summersville units arrived on scene to discover a large fire being fueled by tires that had spread to the surrounding woods. Chief Snodgress immediately requested back up. Every department in Nicholas county provided a tanker and manpower to contain the fire along with several units from Fayette County.
“We couldn’t be more thankful for all of them. We would also like to thank the support from the community and volunteers who provided equipment and food to feed the firefighters.
Currently the fire is contained, but still burning. It is being monitored and crews will return tomorrow morning to continue fighting it.
Again from all of us at SFD thank you to all the departments who responded and the community for support.”
