SISSONVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two individuals were transported for medical treatment on Thursday night after being struck by an ATV.
According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, just after 6:00pm the evening of Thursday, October 26, 2023, authorities were alerted to a crash involving an ATV in the 8600 block of Sissonville Drive.
Two men, both over the age of 80, were reportedly standing behind the involved ATV when it went into reverse and struck both men at full acceleration.
KCSO Deputy H.K. Burdette, who investigated the scene of the incident, discovered that the driver of the ATV had been loading logs at the time the vehicle lost control.
One of the men struck by the vehicle fell over a 20-foot embankment, sustaining critical injuries which required Health Net helicopters to be placed on standby in response.
Both men were reportedly stabilized by medics and first responders at the scene and were able to be admitted to the hospital. Both individuals are said to be in stable condition at the time of writing.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office reports that Deputies with the department have determined the crashed to have been unintentional. The cause of the malfunction of the ATV which caused the crash is unknown. The driver involved will purportedly not face charges as a result of the incident.
