BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – EyeCandy Optical, a new fashion-forward optical boutique located in Beckley has announced that they now offer tele-ophthalmology appointments to add another layer of convenience to their patients.
James Rudd who has been in the optical business since 1988 saw the need in Beckley and he and his partner Tim Ketterman decided to take a leap of faith and open an optical shop here in Beckley where they carry the most unique eyewear in the industry.
‘We have styles for all and a price range that will fit everyone’s needs, we want everyone to be able to have the vision they need and deserve when they need it,” Rudd said.
Tele-ophthalmology is the practice of providing non-urgent eye health and vision care services to the patient via telecommunications technology over the phone or computer. With the help of EyeQue Corp and EyeQue Connect we can offer visual acuity testing, color deficiency and contrast sensitivity tests in addition to eyeglass or contact lens prescription renewals. Just a few quick tests can provide parents with a way to help identify children’s visual needs early, which can provide better vision in the future.
Rudd explains that this new method of practicing tele-ophthalmology will not replace the traditional method of practice. “We are not here to replace the optometrists or ophthalmologists we are here to help the community to be able to see in a timely fashion,” Rudd said. “Cyrus Golshani, MD has come on board to help us with the process of telehealth. We are thrilled to offer this type of service to the community.”
Rudd says he sees results with this new method of practice and that it allows for an expedited process for patients.
“The convenience of this service is already proving itself, as well as enabling patients not to wait months for a visit to see their eye doctor, we have decided to bring this service to Beckley because we have heard wait times of up to 6-9 months for a patient to be seen,” Rudd explained.
Tele-ophthalmology is the right way to go during this day and time, according to Rudd. He says that by being the first practice in the state to offer this, EyeCandy Optical will eliminate long waiting periods for patients.
“We are extremely happy to be the lead on this process in the state. Telehealth is the way of the future, especially with the trials we have seen over the past few years dealing with the pandemic,” Rudd stated. “This service will help eliminate the backlog of people needing to get into the eye doctors and enable them to have some comfort in knowing they can see in their everyday routine.”
EyeCandy Optical, a full-service optical shop first opened its doors in June of 2022 with the goal of providing the community with more options in eyewear.
“We are providing the community with options of eyeglass frames and lenses that Raleigh County and surrounding areas have never seen. We also have the inventory that we will accommodate everyone with their eye care needs,” Rudd concluded.
