FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Fayette County, WV, authorities are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. yesterday near the intersection of Glen Ferris Loop and U.S. Route 60.
Sheriff Jess McMullen tell us the preliminary investigation showed an SUV entered onto Rt 60 and collided with a westbound Jeep. A witness reported observing the SUV pull into the path of the Jeep prior to the crash.
One passenger in the SUV was transported from the accident and later pronounced deceased at the hospital. Occupants of the Jeep were also transported for treatment. Their conditions are unknown at this time. The West Virginia State Police Accident Reconstruction team was on scene to assist the investigation.
The driver of the SUV, was observed with a white powdery substance in her nostril while receiving medical attention. She was later interviewed, administered field sobriety tests, and a search warrant was obtained for a blood sample.
Tonya Hedrick was charged with the felony offense of DUI Causing Death.
