WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man was arrested after allegedly punching his son and holding a pocketknife to his throat during a confrontation captured on a witness’s cellphone, according to a criminal complaint.
Adam Toler faces charges of domestic battery, second offense, and brandishing.
A responding officer reported that Toler came out of the house and that someone advised the officer he had a knife in his pocket. The officer ordered Toler to remove the knife and drop it before detaining him for further investigation.
The officer spoke with two witnesses, one of whom said she had recorded the incident.
According to the complaint’s account of the video, Toler and his son became entangled during a physical confrontation and fell to the ground. The son was reportedly on top of Toler and choking him before stopping, apologizing and getting off his father.
When Toler stood up, he allegedly punched his son in the face. The two continued struggling before briefly stopping.
The argument then resumed. According to the complaint, Toler yelled, “You don’t know what kinda person I am,” and placed a gray pocketknife against his son’s throat.
The officer reported observing red marks and scratches beneath the son’s chin and along the side of his neck.
The complaint states that Toler was previously convicted of domestic battery on March 24, 2015.
The charges are allegations, and Toler is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
