FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Fayette County Humane Society is asking the public for help after announcing on Friday that the shelter has reached “code red” status.
The FCHS has indicated that every available shelter space is occupied after “a whirlwind of canine arrivals” in which the shelter received over twenty dogs in under a week.
“The kennels are brimming, and our capacity is stretched to its limits. We find ourselves in a code red status, a dire situation where every available space is occupied, and our resources are strained,” said the FCHS. “We urgently need your help. If you’ve ever considered adopting or fostering, now is the time… Let’s turn this crisis into an opportunity for compassion and change.”
Generally, “code red” status as pertaining to animal shelters indicates that, due to overcrowding and lack of adequate housing, animals currently housed are at risk of being euthanized in order to make room for new animals if homes cannot be found for them.
The Fayette County Humane Society is located at 513 Shelter Road, Fayetteville, WV, and can be reached at (304) 574-2722. Additional information can also be found at the Fayette County Humane Society Facebook page.
