FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Fayette County Board of Education (FCBOE) has officially approved a contract for David Warvel to serve as the district’s next superintendent.
Warvel was selected for the position during the board’s February 18 meeting from a pool of eight applicants.
Previously serving as superintendent of Summers County Schools, Warvel brings multiple years of experience to the role.
Prior to his tenure in Summers County, he held key positions within Fayette County Schools, including director of transportation and director of secondary education.
Under the terms of the newly approved agreement, Warvel will serve a two-year term with an annual salary of $133,500.
The contract, which includes benefits and other provisions, was unanimously approved by the board in a 5-0 vote.
Warvel will succeed current superintendent Gary Hough, who is retiring after 45 years with the Fayette County school system.
His appointment will take effect on July 1, 2025.
