FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Fayette County Commission met on Wednesday for the commission’s Regular Session meeting at which recent concerns of the Fayette County Humane Society were addressed.
With regard to meeting agenda item number 7: “Discussion & Decision: Letter Responding to  Fayette County Humane Society,” Commissioner Allison Taylor referred to correspondence received by the commission from the humane society concerning entry into the Fayette County Humane Society facility after regular business hours.
“We received a letter from Fayette County Humane Society with the concern that one of our animal control officers was going into the shelter the county owns after-hours,” said Taylor, who noted that no accusations of wrongdoing were necessarily presented as part of the concerns in question.
It was disclosed that members of the commission did reference footage pertinent to the concerns and likewise found no evidence of wrongdoing. It was additionally reiterated that ownership of the Fayette County Humane Society building does, in fact, fall under the Fayette County Commission.
“We responded letting them know that it is within her responsibilities to enter that building that belongs to us,” Taylor continued. “But that while she is on secondary duty for other reasons and not serving as animal control, that she will not enter the shelter.”
A motion for approval of the letter to the Fayette County Humane Society in response to the aforementioned concerns was seconded and passed through the commission on Wednesday.
