FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Fayette County Commission is urging residents affected by recent flooding to report property damage as recovery efforts continue across the county.
A State of Emergency remains in effect for all 55 West Virginia counties following continued severe weather and thunderstorms. The commission is advising residents and visitors to use caution while traveling in Fayette County due to flash flooding and hazards on roadways.
Residents who suffered property damage from flooding are encouraged to complete a West Virginia Emergency Management Division damage survey. County officials say the information will help determine what assistance residents may be eligible for and support the state’s efforts to secure federal disaster relief funding.
The damage assessment can be completed through the Fayette County Emergency Management and Fayette County E911 Facebook pages or in person at the Fayette County Office of Emergency Management.
Anyone who has been exposed to floodwater is encouraged to contact the Fayette County Health Department at 304-574-1617 to make sure they have the appropriate vaccinations. Free vaccinations are available for those who need them.
The county said additional information about disposal sites for flood debris is expected later this week.
Donations of water and flood-related cleaning supplies are being accepted at the Fayette County Office of Emergency Management, located at 1047 Nick Rahall Greenway in Fayetteville. Donations may be dropped off on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday, Aug. 21.
Organizations interested in volunteering to assist with flood relief efforts should contact the Fayette County Office of Emergency Management at 304-574-3590 for additional information.
Residents should call 911 to report emergencies.
