FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Fayette County Commission is accepting applications to fill the county assessor position following the retirement of Assessor Harvey “Eddie” Young.
Interested individuals must submit a resume by 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

Applicants should outline their qualifications, relevant experience, and knowledge of the duties of a county assessor as defined in the West Virginia State Code.
Resumes can be submitted via email to fcc@fayettecountywv.gov or delivered in person to the Fayette County Administrator’s Office.
To be eligible, applicants must be residents of Fayette County and registered Republican voters in the county for at least one year prior to the application deadline.
The selected applicant will serve until the certification of the November 3, 2026, General Election. The appointee may choose to run for the position in the 2026 Primary Election.
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience, knowledge, and skills that ensure continuity in the Assessor’s Office during the transition period.
