FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Page couple faces felony charges in Fayette County for child concealment and abduction.
Sheriff Shannon Morris says that during the evening hours of September 5, 2024, deputies received notification from Fayette County C.P.S. of a child concealment and abduction. Workers with Child Protective Services had an in-home investigative visit at a residence in Page; as a result of the investigation, workers obtained an emergency order from a Circuit Judge to take custody of the child. When C.P.S. returned to the home, the residence was empty. Detectives with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department Detective’s Bureau were notified. Detectives established a cellphone ping location for one of the parents, showing them in the State of North Carolina.
Today, in conjunction with the U.S. Marshal’s Southern West Virginia C.U.F.F.E.D. Task Force, members of the U.S. Marshal’s Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force (C.R.F.T.F.) located the individuals in Bolivia, North Carolina, and took them in custody. The child was located safely and taken into the care of North Carolina C.P.S. to be transported back to West Virginia.
Derek V. Zahurancik, 36, along with Jessica L. Boggs, 30, are both charged with the felony offense of Child Concealment. Both individuals await the extradition process to be returned to Fayette County.
