FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Fayette County Commission has notified several candidates after a voting irregularity was discovered during the county’s official canvass process following the recent election.
According to officials, the issue could have impacted the outcomes of two races for the Fayette County Republican Executive Committee — the Female New Haven District seat and the Male Plateau District seat. Officials said no other races were affected.
The commission, acting as the county’s Board of Canvassers, sent letters to the candidates involved earlier today.
The Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is now investigating the matter alongside the county commission. Officials say more information will be released publicly once the investigation is complete.
