FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An accidental gunshot leaves one Fayette County man in the hospital. Sheriff Mike Fridley provides the following information regarding this incident.
Just before midnight on December 9, 2022, deputies responded to the Hill N Dale Mobil Home Park in Oak Hill for a male victim with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. When deputies arrived, witnesses told them that the victim did not know the firearm was loaded and was “playing around.” Deputies also believe that the victim may have been intoxicated. The victim was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center for treatment.
Sheriff Mike Fridley would like to take this time to remind everyone of the basic principles of gun safety. You should treat every firearm as if it were loaded. “Never point a firearm at anyone or anything that you don’t intend to shoot. Alcohol and firearms do not mix; if you’re going to be drinking, put your firearm in a safe location.”
