FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Fayette County man is facing charges after West Virginia State Police say he threatened to kill his wife and allegedly choked her during a domestic dispute Tuesday night in Mount Hope.
According to Trooper C.B. Bare, officers were dispatched around 10:36 p.m. on May 26, 2026, to a home on Paint Creek Road after Appalachian Power Company employees contacted authorities during a welfare check call.
Dispatchers advised troopers that AEP workers were on the phone with residents at the home when they reportedly heard a woman screaming, “Please don’t hit me.”
When troopers arrived at the residence, they made contact with Jason Markle, identified as the accused, and the victim.
During the investigation, police learned both parties had reportedly been drinking when an argument escalated inside the home.
According to the complaint, the victim told troopers that Jason Markle threatened to kill her and grabbed her by the throat, choking her during the altercation.
Troopers reported observing a mark on the victim’s neck that was consistent with her statement. Officers also observed two broken picture frames inside the residence that both parties said were damaged during the argument.
Police documented the victim’s injuries and the damage at the scene using body camera photographs.
Authorities allege Markle unlawfully made physical contact of an insulting or provoking nature with the victim, who is identified as his wife and household member, and placed her in fear of immediate violent injury.
The incident remains under investigation by the West Virginia State Police.
