HILLTOP, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Scarbro man is facing felony charges in Fayette County.
According to Sheriff Mike Fridley, on the night of October 16, 2021, deputies responded to a burglary in the Hilltop area of Fayette County. The homeowner was reviewing his security cameras when he had noticed a male individual open his garage and enter, leaving with multiple items. Deputies checked the footage and identified the suspect.
On the evening of October 19, 2021, deputies responded to another burglary in the Scarbro area where homeowners caught a male in an outbuilding where he had forced entry. The individual dropped the property he had and fled before law enforcement’s arrival. Deputies reviewed security footage and identified this male as the same suspect as the previous burglary.
Aaron Preston Matheny, 27, of Scarbro, has been charged with the felony offenses of Entering without Breaking and Breaking and Entering and the misdemeanor offense of Petit Larceny. Matheny was arraigned in Fayette County Magistrate Court and failed to post a $7,000 bond. He was transported to Southern Regional Jail to await further court proceedings.
