ROBSON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Fayette County man is facing charges in relation to the theft of a ring valued at nearly $1,000.
According to Fayette County Magistrate Court documentation, on Monday, January 22, 2024, at approximately 6:13am, Deputy Sheriff, T.L. Farley, II of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call for service regarding an incident of jewelry theft in the Beards Fork area.
Deputy Farley arrived at the scene of the residence involved, along with Deputy Sheriff G Holstein of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 6:46am.
Deputies made contact with the victim, Mrs. Denise Bowling, who advised that her son – identified as Joseph Anthony Bowling – had stolen a gold amethyst ring valued at $899.00 from her the previous day. Bowling stated that upon questioning, her son disclosed that he had taken the piece of jewelry to a Kanawha City pawn shop.
Deputies made contact with Mr. Bowling, who stated that he had pawned the ring at KV Jewelry and Loan in Kanawha County and advised he had thrown away the receipt.
A phone call to KV Jewelry and Loan, along with subsequent discussion with Mrs. Bowling, revealed that Mr. Bowling had exchanged the ring for drugs.
The investigation led to the determination that Joseph Anthony Bowling committed simple larceny, and would subsequently be charged with Petit Larceny as well as Possession of a Controlled Substance 1.Â
