FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Smithers man is facing felony charges in Fayette County. Sheriff Mike Fridley provides the following information regarding this incident.
On November 3, 2023, deputies began an investigation into a possible sexual abuse of a juvenile. Based on the preliminary investigation, enough probable cause was found to obtain a warrant.
Brain T. Whittington, 39 of Smithers, is charged with the felony offenses of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree and Sexual Abuse by Parent, Guardian, Custodian, or Person in Trust. Whittington was arraigned by a Fayette County Magistrate where he posted a $35,000 bond. He will now await further court proceedings.
