“Hello and for those of you that I have not met yet, my name is Evan Dove. I am a lifelong resident of Fayette County, West Virginia and I currently reside in Oak Hill, West Virginia with my family. I am a licensed and practicing member of the West Virginia State Bar Association. My practice of law primarily revolves around Fayette County, West Virginia, through my employment at Clay Law Firm in Fayetteville, West Virginia. Recently, with the appointment of Former Circuit Judge Thomas Ewing to the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the position of Circuit Judge of Fayette County has become open and available for this May 12, 2026, election season.
It is with careful consideration of my family, my deeply-held beliefs, and with the support of members of the legal community and citizens of Fayette County, like you, that I have decided to seek the office of Circuit Judge of Fayette County. For my entire legal career, I have served many of you as counsel in matters both criminal, civil and of course, family law. These matters sometimes are the most serious that are presented to our society and our judicial system. They include matters that potentially will result in life imprisonment, the termination of parental rights through child abuse and neglect CPS cases, and of course matters concerning your hard-earned funds through businesses that you have spent decades building in Fayette County.
Additionally, throughout the last 8 years of my practice of law, I have served as the Mental Hygiene Commissioner of Fayette County – a judicial position in which I was appointed to by former Chief Circuit Judge, John Hatcher. I believe that this experience both judicial and as a practicing member before the Fayette County Bar Association that I am the best candidate as it puts me in the best position to understand the matters that arecurrently before our circuit, magistrate and family court systems. These matters are the matters in which affect the daily lives of the citizens of Fayette County.
For those of you that have already pledged your support to our campaign, I am humbled and I intend to show you that your faith has not been misplaced. For those of you that I have not met yet or are still on the fence, I say to you that my judicial philosophy is this: The Fayette County Court system is just that – YOUR Fayette County Court system. A circuit judge is meant to serve the citizenry by providing a fair, impartial and balanced approach to making decisions that come before the court. Every individual who comes before me will start from a position of absolute dignity, respect, and with my full attention to their legal matter that has been brought before the court.
