OAK HILL, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – After recently launching their first season, New River Survival & Bushcraft is inviting the local community to come out to the business’ first-ever open house on May 20 to learn more about the New River Gorge’s first Wilderness Survival School. The event is being hosted by New River ATV.
The event, which will feature various survival demonstrations, will be complete with a bonfire, live music by Ken Kruger, kegs from Bridge Brew Works, $20 bottomless cups and food.
According to the event’s Facebook page, these demonstrations will include:
- How to start a fire with flint and steel or a ferro rod
- How to build an emergency survival shelter
- Debris shelter building for kids
Josh Sapio, owner and operator of the business, said that all proceeds will go toward helping the New River Humane Society replace their funding.
“The Fayette County Commission did not renew their funding, so they are sort of in dire straits,” Sapio said. “We are all animal lovers and want to support the Fayette County Animal Society.”
The open house will begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, and will last until the kegs are empty.
New River Survival & Bushcraft asks that all those planning to come to the event RSVP here.
