FAYETTEVILLE, WV — (LOOTPRESS) — The Fayette County Clerk’s Office announces that for the May 12, 2026 Primary Election, absentee ballots mailed to voters will be issued using updated absentee ballot envelopes.
Absentee ballots for the Primary Election will begin mailing to voters on March 27, 2026. Voters have until May 7, 2026, to request an absentee ballot.
This update applies only to the envelopes used for absentee ballots. The absentee voting process, voter eligibility requirements, ballot contents, and ballot security procedures remain unchanged.
“We want voters to be aware of this update so there is no confusion when absentee ballots are received,” said Michelle L. Holly, Fayette County Clerk. “Although the envelopes may look different from past elections, the voting process remains the same, and election security continues to be a top priority.”
The Fayette County Clerk’s Office reminds absentee voters to:
- Follow all instructions included with the absentee ballot
- Sign and complete all required areas on the return envelope
- Submit ballot requests by May 7, 2026
- Return voted ballots by the deadline stated in the election instructions
Voters with questions about absentee voting, ballot requests, or the updated envelopes for the May 12 Primary Election are encouraged to contact the Fayette County Clerk’s Office.
