FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One Fayetteville police officer has been recognized for her recent efforts in saving a woman from jumping off the New River Gorge Bridge as well as assisting an addicted homeless man.
Officer Kennedy was recognized during last night’s Fayetteville Town Council meeting for her actions.
According to the town of Fayetteville, on August 7th, 2023, while assisting the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department Officer Kennedy was able to build a rapport with a female that was on the New River Gorge Bridge.
Officer Kennedy was able to convince this female to seek professional help and leave the bridge with emergency personnel.
In a different situation on September 24th, 2023, while working a special detail at Walmart, Officer Kennedy was summoned by management for assistance.
A male subject who was homeless and addicted to narcotics had been dropped off at the store. Officer Kennedy took the time to speak with this person about his problems.
After learning about these problems, she was able to coordinate help and immediate placement for this subject. Additionally, Officer Kennedy provided this subject with a meal.
Officer Kennedy was also promoted from Patrolman to Patrolman First Class during Thursday evening’s meeting.
