TAZEWELL COUNTY, VA (LOOTPRESS)– The annual Old-Time, Bluegrass and Fiddlers’ Convention is coming back to Tazewell next week.
This year’s convention will be held on Friday, July 9 through Saturday, July 10 at the Crab Orchard Museum in Tazewell, Virginia. All performances and contests will be held on the front porch of the Daniel Murray Homestead Cabin located in Pioneer Park.
Gates open at 3:00 pm on Friday. Single-day and weekend passes are available for purchase at the gate. Friday single-day tickets are $7, Saturday single-day tickets are $10, and a weekend pass is available for $15. Children under the age of 12 get are free with an accompanying adult.Â
Camping is first-come, first-serve for self-contained RVs. The fee is $20 per night per RV. Primitive camping for attendees is free. No dumping or hook-ups allowed. Food will be on-site Friday and Saturday.Â
More than $5,000 in cash and prizes will be given to winners in their respective competitions. Contestants may register up to an hour before their scheduled contest. The convention will also give out a Lifetime Achievement Award to persons who preserve traditional music in the Tazewell area.Â
“Bring the family to Tazewell for a weekend of traditional mountain music, flat foot dancing, jamming on the cabin porches, instrument and band competitions, cash prizes, picking in the parking lot, camping, and fellowship in the cool mountain air,” stated the flyer.Â
