NITRO, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An apartment complex in Putnam County has been destroyed after a fire early Sunday morning.
In the early hours of the morning, the Nitro Fire Department swiftly responded to a three-alarm blaze at Devonshire Apartments, located off Teays Valley Road in Scott Depot.
The fire, which engulfed the three-story complex, caused extensive damage to 22 residential units. Preliminary investigations suggest that a lightning strike may have been the cause of the devastating inferno.
Multiple fire departments from Putnam, Kanawha, and Cabell Counties rallied together to combat the blaze.
Thanks to their prompt response, no injuries were reported, and all occupants were safely evacuated from the affected units.
The Red Cross has arrived at the scene to provide support and assistance to the displaced residents. The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s office has also been called in to investigate the incident further.
