MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A shooting in Mercer County left five injured, including a five-year-old child.
According to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, a shooting did occur at the Days Inn during a private family event on Friday night.
The shooting resulted in three adults and a 5-year-old child being hospitalized for gunshot wounds.
One other adult received a grazing injury to the face but did not seek medical care. Detective Sommers tells Lootpress that a second shooter, at this time, appears to have been acting in self-defense, and all the victims were in the direction the arrestee was shooting. The second shooter was one of the adults hospitalized.
Christopher Wilburn Jr. turned himself in on June 14, 2024, and is awaiting arraignment.
