ALDERSON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The National Weather Service in Blacksburg, Virginia, has issued a river flood warning for the Greenbrier River at Alderson due to a combination of snowmelt and rainfall expected to cause significant water level rises.
According to the latest forecast, minor flooding is expected on Saturday, with the river predicted to crest at approximately 14.3 feet.
Flood stage at Alderson is 14 feet, and bankfull conditions occur at 14 feet.
Low-lying areas along the Greenbrier River could experience flooding, and roads downstream of Alderson, including portions of Route 3/12, may become impassable if water levels rise between 12 and 14 feet.
The National Weather Service urges residents to remain cautious and avoid driving through flooded areas.
