GAULEY BRIDGE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Federal funding has been allocated to demolish the former Gauley Bridge High School building.
On Friday, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) helped secure a number of West Virginia priorities in the bipartisan appropriations package.
Sen. Manchin says that these six funding bills included critical priorities he has championed such as keeping West Virginia on the cutting edge of innovation, promoting our energy and national security, rebuilding West Virginia’s infrastructure, and keeping the Mountain State Wild and Wonderful.
They also included $191,265,370 in Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) requests, or earmarks, for 151 West Virginia projects.
One of these projects includes the demolition of the former Gauley Bridge High School building in Fayette County.
According to Sen. Manchin, $360,000 has been allocated to the Town of Gauley Bridge for the demolition of the former high school building.
It has not been announced when the demolition will occur.
