WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – Former President Donald Trump has publicly endorsed Patrick Morrisey, a candidate for governor of West Virginia.
Trump released a statement on his Truth Social account and has spoken highly of Morrisey’s commitment to the state and his firm stance on important issues.
“Highly Respected Attorney General Patrick Morrisey ran against two very talented and popular opponents for Governor of West Virginia, a State I love and won by large margins in 2016 and 2020. Patrick has been a wonderful Attorney General, and will now be an incredible Governor who will fight tirelessly to stop Inflation, grow the Economy, restore Energy DOMINANCE, secure our Border, strengthen our Military/Vets, and protect and defend our always under siege Second Amendment. Now is the time for all Republicans to unite behind Patrick Morrisey to ensure he has a tremendous Victory in November! Patrick will work closely with me to enact America First Policies, and is a FANTASTIC person to replace my friend and future U.S. Senator, Jim Justice. Patrick Morrisey has my Complete and Total Endorsement – HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN!”
Morrisey responded by saying:
“I’m grateful for President Trump’s endorsement and support for my campaign. Republicans, Independents and Democrats are rallying behind my campaign for West Virginia Governor. I’ll continue to deliver victories for all West Virginians when elected in November.”
Trump endorses Patrick Morrisey after the May 14th primary ended. Morrisey won 33% of the vote, while Moore Capito won around 27%, followed by Chris Miller at 21% and Mac Warner at 16%.
360,103 voted for the governor’s race, which resulted in roughly 30% turnout in the state.
The current West Virginia Governor, Jim Justice, could not run again due to term limits. He won the Republican Primary to take Senator Joe Manchin’s Senate Seat. He ran against Alex Mooney.
Morrisey will face Democrat Huntington Mayor Steve Williams in the November General Election. Justice will face Democrat Glenn Elliott for the U.S. Senate Seat.
