NORFOLK, ENGLAND (LOOTPRESS) — Prince Andrew, formally known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of misconduct in public office following an investigation tied to recently released Jeffrey Epstein-related documents.
Police activity was reported early Thursday morning at Wood Farm on King Charles III’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk, where Andrew recently moved. Witnesses saw several unmarked police vehicles arrive shortly after 8 a.m. local time.
In a statement, Thames Valley Police confirmed officers had arrested “a man in his sixties from Norfolk” as part of an ongoing investigation and were conducting searches at properties in Berkshire and Norfolk. Authorities said the suspect remains in custody. Officials did not publicly name the individual, following standard procedure.
The arrest comes about two weeks after documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice prompted calls from an anti-monarchy group for a formal investigation into Andrew’s past actions while serving as the United Kingdom’s trade envoy.
According to the released records, email exchanges appear to show Andrew forwarding confidential government reports concerning official trips to Asia — including Singapore, Hong Kong, and Vietnam — to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein shortly after receiving them. Additional correspondence suggests Andrew also shared what he described as a “confidential brief” regarding potential investment opportunities in southern Afghanistan, reportedly seeking Epstein’s input on how to attract interest.
Andrew has previously denied wrongdoing in matters connected to Epstein and has not yet publicly commented on the latest developments. Representatives for him have also not issued a statement.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, speaking earlier Thursday, declined to comment directly on the case but emphasized the principle that “everybody is equal under the law and nobody is above the law,” noting the investigation is a matter for police.
Buckingham Palace said last week that the royal family would cooperate fully with any police inquiries, adding that King Charles has expressed concern over the continuing allegations tied to his younger brother.
The investigation remains ongoing.
