PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS)– A former Princeton Police Department officer died in Auburn, Alabama, after battling a brief illness Sunday night.
Mary Beth Gergely, 54, served with the Princeton Police Department for 15 years until leaving in 2012.
Princeton Police Chief Tim Gray says that Gergely thought of the citizens of Princeton as “her people.” Gergely was the second female to be hired by Princeton PD.
“She was one of my training officers. She loved her job. We want to let her family know that our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time,” said Gray.
According to Gergely’s obituary, Gergely requests that no services be held. Instead, Gergely requests donations in her name to be made to the International Myeloma Foundation at www.myeloma.org.
