MONONGALIA COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Police in Monongalia County have arrested one suspect and are searching for three more after four masked men broke into a home and demanded cash.
According to the Mon County Sheriff’s Office, on July 26, 2023, at approximately 11:29 PM, Monongalia County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Earl L. Core Road for a report of a Burglary that had just occurred.
Deputies were advised by MECCA 911 that a group of four males had just entered the caller’s home and demanded money. Deputies were also advised that all the males had masks on and were carrying pistols.
Once Deputies arrived on the scene, the victim stated he was struck in the face with a pistol and robbed. The victim did not require medical treatment at that time.
The suspects had fled prior to the deputy’s arrival.
On July 27, at approximately 12:00, Deputies received a tip, one of the suspects of the robbery, Leland Dewayne Gray, 18 years old of Morgantown, was located at an address on Canfield St. in Star City.
Based on information and evidence obtained during the investigation, Monongalia County Sheriff’s Deputies with the assistance of the Star City Police Department apprehended Gray at the stated location on charges of nighttime Burglary, Robbery and Conspiracy to commit a felony.
Gray is currently at North Central Regional Jail on a $75,000 bond.
This investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests are expected.
