RANDOLPH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Four schools in Randolph County have achieved recognition as 2024 Capturing Kids’ Hearts Showcase Schools.
Coalton Elementary School, Elkins Third Ward Elementary School, Midland Elementary School, and Pickens School received this distinction, with their principals notified on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
The Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools honor schools that excel in creating safe and inclusive environments where students thrive.
These schools are celebrated for implementing the Capturing Kids’ Hearts Process, which forms positive relationships and a conducive climate for learning.
Randolph County Schools adopted the Capturing Kids’ Hearts initiative district-wide in fall 2022 to address social-emotional needs post-COVID-19.
Through training, coaching, a character-based curriculum, and personalized support, this transformation equips schools to create relationship-driven cultures, leading to improvements in academic, behavioral, and cultural outcomes.
The principals—Melissa Walters from Coalton Elementary, Hollie Pritt from Elkins Third Ward Elementary, Teena Wallace from Midland Elementary, and Christine Long from Pickens School—will be honored at the next principals’ meeting on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.
