WVU Tech track and field will send four athletes to the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships set to take place on Wednesday and Thursday.

Representing Tech will be All-American race walkers Steven Smith and Stefanie Meachem as well as Michael Ecker-Randolph and John Niceley.

Smith, a native of Maine, comes in as the top seed in the men’s 5000 meter race walk, while Niceley rounds out the field as the No. 16 seed. For Smith a win would be the second individual championship of his career, the other coming in the indoor 3000 meter race walk.

Meacham, a freshman, will be in search of her second All-American honor as she enters the women’s 5,000 meter race walk at the No. 5 seed. Ecker-Randolph, a four-time national qualifier in cross country will be making his first trip to the Outdoor Nationals in the 1500 meter run as the No. 14 seed.

The 1500 meter trail will begin Wednesday at 5:50. The women’s 5000 meter race walk will begin Thursday at 6:45 with the men’s following at 7:15 p.m.
