PRINCETON, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – The Friends of the Library is planning a used book sale in Princeton on Monday, March 14, and Tuesday, March 15, 2022. The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Princeton Public Library’s “Coffee Shop”- located in the downstairs portion of the library.
According to Amanda Wenisch, a member of the Friends of the Library, the sale’s proceeds will benefit the library’s youth summer reading program. According to Laura Buchannan, Interim Director of the Princeton Public Library, more than half of the program’s funding comes from the group’s sales.
“It’s a really great program that the library puts on,” Wenisch said. “We do a large chunk of the funding, and it all comes from the book sales. The support of the community and coming out and buying these books provide a whole summer’s worth of program for the community’s children.
“We are trying to raise more, and we want to offer more programs. Everything we raise goes back into the library. We are always looking for things that we can bring into the community on a literacy front…”
Almost all the books featured at the sale are donated from the community or phased on the library’s shelves.
Mass-produced paperbacks will be priced at 50 cents, all other paperbacks are $1 and hardbacks are $2.
“We have just such a wide variety,” Wenisch said. “We have really nice books, The stuff that people are donating is in really nice condition. There will be a variety of children’s books, religious books, CDs, DVDs and audiobooks. There are interesting books in there that people might not be able to find. It’s the thrill of the hunt really.”
Buchanan expressed her excitement for the upcoming sale and thanked the Friends of the Library for their constant support.
“They are a wonderful group of ladies,” she shared. “They just love the library and love books.”
The Friends of the Library will host a book sale on the second Monday and Tuesday of each month from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will also begin hosting quarterly sales on a Saturday for those who can’t make it out during the week. The first of these sales will be held on Saturday, March 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Community members can keep up with the sale’s schedule on the Princeton Public Library calendar or Facebook page. Those looking to join the Friends of the Library can contact the library at 304-487-5045 and ask to speak with Buchanan.
