BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A fugitive with a history of fraud and burglary was arrested on February 9 after allegedly using counterfeit money at a 7-Eleven in Berkeley Springs.
According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy B.K. Knotts responded to a report of counterfeit currency at the convenience store on Union Street around 8:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, he encountered a man who initially identified himself as Zabihullah Enayutalla.
During the investigation, Deputy Knotts determined the man had provided false identification and was actually Khaled Khaleeq.
Authorities say Khaleeq is a non-citizen in the U.S. on a work visa and was a wanted fugitive from Will County, Illinois.
He had outstanding felony warrants for burglary and forgery and was wanted for extradition nationwide.
Investigators have linked Khaleeq to at least one other counterfeit currency case in Morgan County.
He was arrested on charges of being a fugitive from justice, obstructing an officer, and possession of counterfeit money with intent to utter.
Khaleeq is currently being held at Eastern Regional Jail on bond as the investigation continues.
