FAYETTEVILLE, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – The Fayette County Park Canteen will be adding a jukebox, pool table and claw machine to its offerings after the Fayette Commission approved the additions during a special meeting held Wednesday morning.
Park Director Wayne Workman explained that the park would enter into a contract with Venco Business Solutions out of Virginia. The company offers a variety of products from games to ATMs, drive-thru equipment and more.
Workman informed the commission that the company wanted the park to enter into a five-year contract, but he worked to lower the period to one year.
Park Assistant Angel Duncan remembers growing up in the area when the park’s Canteen was known for its jukebox and pool table.
“You’d swim and then get a snack and shoot pool,” Duncan explained. “It was where people would spend their time.”
Years ago, the machines were removed from the Canteen, but Duncan said the park has been working to replace them for quite some time.
According to Workman, the machines will not cost the county any money as Venco will be responsible for their maintenance. The company will require a percentage of the games’ proceeds, and the county will receive the remaining earnings.
Having received approval from the commission, Fayette County Park will continue in the contract process with Venco, according to Duncan.
During his presentation, Workman was not able to disclose exactly when the games will be available at the park due to the company’s delayed shipment. He did say, however, that the machines will be ready by next summer.
