FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The rain did not stop Fayetteville residents and visitors from enjoying 4th of July festivities on Thursday.
Fayetteville’s Heritage Festival kicked off on Wednesday with a carnival at Charlie McCoy Town Park.
The fun continued into Thursday with multiple food and craft vendors set up downtown with multiple contests taking place throughout the day from a Hula Hoop Contest to Balloon Toss.
The evening kicked off with the annual 4th of July Parade along Maple Avenue and into downtown.
An hour before the parade, heavy rain showers moved through the area threatening to put an early end to the evening but the skies cleared just in time for the parade at 5 PM.
Despite the rain, hundreds still gathered along Maple Avenue dressed in their favorite red, white, and blue attire catching a glimpse of the parade.
The parade had many participants who braved the weather.
LOOTPRESS streamed the parade live on Facebook and YouTube. You can watch a replay of the parade here.
The festival continues Friday and Saturday, with a fireworks show at dusk on Saturday closing out this week’s festivities.
