Summers County 37, Mingo Central 33
Hinton – With sectionals right around the corner Summers County picked up a signature win at the right time.
The Class AA No. 3 Lady Bobcats held No. 1 Mingo Central to two points in he second quarter, climbing out of a 17-8 hole to down the Lady Miners 37-33 Saturday evening in Hinton.
“It’s another day in the life of Region 3,” Summers County head coach Chad Meador said. “We have four losses, one to Mingo, one to Chapmanville and two to Wyoming East. We thought we were close and tonight allowed us to believe we were closer. It helped us know if we’re on the right track to accomplishing our goals.”
All-stater Gracie Harvey led the Lady Bobcats with 16 points while Avery Lilly added 11.
Addie Smith was the only Lady Miner to score more than four points in the loss.
Summers (17-4) will host Greenbrier West on Monday.
