Greenbrier East 63, James Monroe 43
Fairlea – Senior all-stater Cadence Stewart scored 20 points and her younger sister Kennedy, a freshman, added 16 as Greenbrier East opened its season with a 63-43 win over Class A James Monroe Tuesday in Fairlea.
Adyson Hines led the Lady Mavs with 12 points to go along with 12 rebounds in the loss.
James Monroe drops to 0-1 and will play again Dec. 8 in the Narrows Christmas Tournament against Bland, Va.
East improves to 1-0 and will host Hedgesville on Friday.
