Coal City – Prior to Monday’s Wyoming East-Independence softball matchup, a team composed of 10U players from Wyoming County (The Pink Pistols) faced off against a squad a future Independence players (The Empire) at Independence High School.
The Pink Pistols jumped out to a 6-0 lead, holding on for a 6-3 win.
“We had a great little deal today,” Independence head coach Ken Adkins said. “We wanted to do some things to get our community involved and man there were a lot of people here for those little kids before the game. That’s great for the future of the programs.”
